as the name suggests, these weekly updates are moments & memories that brought us joy, that filled up our cup. it’s this week that i realized, it’s really more of gratitude list, a list of things to hold on to, something to look back on, things to be thankful for, wrapped up nice with a bow on it.

h: this weekend was my first full weekend off at home since probably early january, and it was a flurry of activity. we had new friends over on saturday night (post about that coming), and overall we were just much more social and “out and about” than we have been all winter. but, since we had friends over, we cleaned the whole house. alex did some slight rearranging, and i just am always so in awe of the deep feeling of grounding and comfort that i get from this home when it is in its best state. my mom always did an incredible (probably too incredible) job of caring for my childhood home, and it’s why i have such strongly positive associations with the idea of home and also with that physical space in particular. a cared-for, clean home just emanates this magical, loving feeling that honestly feels like a great big hug. here’s to hoping we can keep some semblance of clean all week long - i think that’s something we both want to work on.

a: i think being midwestern babies we are particularly sensitive to the changes in seasons. as spring begins, akin the weather & overall sensory feel, we start pushing, like the buds in our front garden. we make the most of the sunshine, using that pent up hiberative energy to gear up for the bike rides, and picnics ahead. this weekend felt like the beginning of something anew. maybe it was the spring cleaning.

maybe it was all of the new love we observed this weekend.

or maybe it’s just a feeling.
