one year with lu

it's been one year since we welcomed little lu into our home. when I met her, she was small and skinny, and sneezing up a storm. she had only been up for adoption a few days, and snuggled up to alex the moment he met her. the snuggle and the sneeze was how he chose her.

now she's bigger and stronger, a picky eater and clumsy. she's weird and goofy, and knows where to go when we say treat - it means the kitchen stool. she also knows "up up" - which means stand up on your hind legs! she's still scared of loud noises and strangers, but she loves alex and me so much. we cherish every affection she offers us. she has made me infinitely happier in a selfish way, but I also love being able to take care of something together - with alex. she's helped us grow closer in unexpected ways, and somethimes we just watch in awe of her cuteness. getting to scoop her up and put my face in her face after a long day is such a blessing.

so here's to enjoying many more days with you, our freaky crouton. you amaze us and inspire gratitude in us every day. we love you, lulu bean.
