so i said on our "about" page that i really love to cook - over the past two years i've cultivated a little archive of recipes. they aren't super complicated, they don't take a whole evening to prepare (but they also aren't as fast as like, microwaving a hot pocket), and most of them offer a good balance of all the food groups. i believe cooking is an amazing way to show yourself some love, or show other people some love. it's a lost art, especially in urban areas where buying every meal out is so incredibly easy. but cooking has made me feel useful, smart, and proud. i love being able to know everything that went into the food i put in my body. this makes me feel more in control of my nutrition and health. and there's nothing better than sitting down to taste something you've made and realizing just how delicious it is - and watching the person across the table from you do the same.

i'm really excited to share my collection of recipes. i definitely did not make most of them up from scratch, but i wanted to put them somewhere for others to reference because looking for recipes online can be so time-consuming and often overwhelming. there are a lot of places to look, and it can feel more stressful than it needs to. i hope that i can inspire other people to find as much joy in cooking as i have grown to. it helps me to shift my mindset from work to home, and to feel present and grateful. it's fun for alex and i to work together in the kitchen, and cooking makes our house feel like a home to me. alex once asked me to list my top five favorite smells - and onions sautéing in butter is definitely on my list. to me, that smell means home cooking, and there truly is nothing better at the end of each day.
